Khudi in Lamjung District is a major gateway to the Annarpurnas, a famous trekking destination. The beautiful villages of Ghalegaun and Ghanpokhara lie to the Northwest of Khudi at the top of the nearby hills. They are situated at an altitude of 2016 meters and 2050 meters respectively. Ghalegaun and Ghanpokhara are mainly Gurung settlements nestled amidst mountains, rivers, streams, waterfalls and green forests.

Trekking in the Annapurna Region…Nature's delights envisaged in eco-realities…

The Annapurna region is geographically based towards the north of Central Nepal. This area is known to be the most popular and a major trekking destination in Nepal. According to a recent survey by the Trekkers Paradise Group (TPG-USA) Annapurna region has been recognized as one of the world's best trekking trails to hike on. More than 40,000 tourists annually visit this area. The Annapurna trekking region consists of peaks Annapurna I, II, III, IV, those of Annapurna South peaks, Mt. Dhaulagiri and several other peaks. The major highlights when trekking in this region are the ancient mid-western salt route settlements of Manang, Thorong La pass between Nepal and Tibet, Muktinath Temple and the deepest gorge of world Kali Gandaki. The Gateway to the Annapurna trekking region is the famous city of Pokhara.

Mustang, or Lo Manthang, the desert plateau located in the upper valley of the River Kali Gandaki, and to the north of the main Himalayan range also falls in this region. Tourist access to Mustang is controlled to help retain its exclusiveness. The highlights of the trek include the visit to the Mustang Palace, the visit to Lo Manthang and pony rides up to the Nepal-Tibet border.

The region is said to have seven ethnic groups living and working in this area, from Hindu farmers to Tibetan Lamas. The most prominent ethnic groups of Annapurna region are Gurungs, Thakali and Manangba. Due to the extremes of elevation the region contains a remarkable diversity of flora; from sub-tropical lowland forests of oak, bamboo and rhododendron in the south to the high alpine meadows and windswept desert plateaus in the north, most bordering Tibet. The Animals found here are pika, blue sheep and Himalayan Tahr.

The well known trekking routes of this region are Jomsom, Annapurna Circuit and Annapurna Base Camp, Sikles, Lamjung, Dhaulagiri, Upper Mustang and within the Pokhara area. The best time to visit is in spring and autumn. Unlike other parts of Nepal, even the monsoon months are ideal to visit Upper Mustang that falls in the rain shadow area. Most trekking routes in the Annapurna region are well serviced by teahouses or better known as tea house lodges.

Whatever the areas of the trek chosen, it is most likely that Pokhara would be either the starting or ending point of your trek in the Annapurna region. Trip Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu./Kathmandu tour will depend on your time./overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 02: AM: Proceed for sightseeing tour to Kathmandu city visiting, the ancient palace square also known as the Durbar Square where you will witness the ancient palaces and the temples, Kasthmandap temple made out of a single tree during ancient age, temple of the living goddesses the Kumari, etc. Later, proceed towards Swoyambhunath stupa, one of the Buddhist shrine and also known as the monkey temple situated on the hillock towards the west of Kathmandu and overlooking the Kathmandu valley. Unlike other stupas, this stupa has got a spiral shape which has typical significance.

PM: Proceed on to another city of the valley called Patan city which is also known as the city of fine arts where one can witness splendid artifacts of the medieval period. Afterwards, drive back to the Hotel and rest of the evening will be at leisure. Overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu on bed & breakfast basis.

Day 03 AM: Proceed on sightseeing tour to Pashupatinath temple, the holiest shrine of the Hindu people where the non Hindu people are not allowed to get inside the temple and they are allowed to witness the temple from the view point, situated on the opposite side of the main temple. Later, proceed to Boudhnath stupa, the Buddhist pilgrimage and biggest of it's kind in Asia.

PM: Proceed on sightseeing tour to Bhaktapur city, also known BHADGAON and the city of devotees. It is the third major city of Kathmandu valley and in many ways the most medieval city.
Overnight at the hotel in Kathmandu on bed & breakfast basis.

Day 04: Drive by Bus to trailhead Bensisahar (760m) - Khudi (790m)

Day 05: Khudi - Ghalegaun

Day 06: Ghalegaun exploration Day

Day 07: Ghalegaun - Baghungpani

Day 08: Baglungpani (1595m) - laxmi Bazar

Day 09: Baglungpani (1595m) - laxmi Bazar

Day 10: Laxmi Bazar - Begnas Lake drive back to Pokhara

Day 11: Rest in Pokhara

Day 12: Fly Back or drive back to Kathmandu. Shopping at Kathmandu/Souvenir from Nepal.Overnight at Kathmandu.

Day13: Fly back to your destination.
